Bankruptcy on student loans?

I know that when you sign the contract it states that you cannot file bankruptcy. But I heard about a case going pretty far into the court system about a guy that filed bankruptcy and still owed his loans so he took it to court. Something about the definition of bankruptcy states that all debt is wiped clean. Any information on the turnout would be great. Also, any advice on how to pay your loans off the fastest would help. I will be graduating in a year and a half and I will owe roughly $100,000 so I need to get this planned out before I can't afford to eat after I graduate.
