How am i suppose to properly wash my Explorer turnouts/bunker gear(coat, pants, gloves)?

I'm 15 years old and an Exlorer at my local Fire Dept. I was issued used turnout gear its pretty old and not in the best condition but is fine for the training we do. It was already quite dirty when i recieved it but after pulling and spraying fire hose it just got wet and dirtier. I would like to know how i could wash it very good, possibly at the laundry mat with the larger washers and dryers. Any specific detergants? Alternative process? Easy and best way possible.
