What can us humans do if a big meteor or planet was to hit earth soon?

let's say that they prove that some big body will collide with earth like after 10 years, just like what happened 65 million eyars ago causing dinosaurs to be extinct. can humans build a weapon big enough to destroy it? or can they do something to avoid it?
